Fake Turtle

A super easy, super yummy treat!

I call these delightful little bits fake turtles because while they have all the caramel, chocolate, and crunch of a complicated turtle they are super easy and cheap to make!

All you need:

1 bag of Rolos
About 40 square pretzels
About 40 pecans (usually 1 small bag is good)

Preheat oven to 350.
Lay about 40 pretzels on a cookie sheet and place 1 Rolo on each pretzel. Cook for 3-4 minutes until chocolate is shinny. Take out and immediately push pecan on the top. Let cool completely before eating.

2013 Christmas Craft Day!!!!

Its that time of year again! CHRISTMAS! One of the best parts of Christmas is crafting!  So my girls and I met for another craft day!  This year Pinterest made us step our game up and we had quite a few successful projects that came out of it!

Each girl brought an idea along with the supplies and we got to work!  This is an all day event so we also had yummy food and drinks:)

My craft was the Popsicle Stick snowflake.

What you need:
Short and long Popsicle sticks (a bunch depending on the size and amount)
Paper to cut small and medium circles (I used grocery bags)
Wood glue or craft glue
Spray Paint
Glitter
A cheat sheet for the pattern (I found the snowflake that I used on Pinterest.)

Once you have all your supplies it is easyLayout the pattern using just the sticks.  Determine how many connection points you want to cover with circles (I wouldn't cover all of them since that may look too busy!).  Cut circles from paper.  Start in the middle and begin gluing the sticks to the middle circle (make this circle a little bigger to fit all the sticks).  Then work your way out.  Once you have the flake you are looking for let it dry for about 30 minutes.

Once dry, bring them outside and spray paint them with white paint.  While the paint is still wet sprinkle them with glitter.  Let dry completely and hang as you please!
More to come on the other crafts:)

Time to go decorate at table!  Love this time of year!

Pumpkin Beer Bread

Easiest bread out there and is so good and moist!

All you need:
3 cups self rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
12 oz bottle of pumpkin beer (or whatever kind you want - the lighter the beer the less the bread will have the beer taste)

Mix all three ingredients until combined (don't over mix) and then pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake for 50 minutes at 350.

Let cool slightly and serve! Amazing!

Gobble

Yay! I was invited to my first Pinterest Party! The guidelines: bring a food/drink from your favorite pin and bring the supplies to make a craft! Then hang out with some girls, eat good food, and craft away!

My drink: Apple Orchard Punch

I couldn't follow directions so I had to change it up a little:)

1 jug of Apple juice
1 frozen concentrate of cran-apple
1 cup OJ
1/2 liter of diet Serria Mist
1/2 liter of diet Cranberry Serria Mist
Frozen cranberries
Green Apple slices

Mix it all up and put it in a jug!

My craft: Gobble twine wrapped sign

In preparation for Thanksgiving and a surplus of green twine my craft was perfect!

Purchased small wood letters from Hobby Lobby. ($1.39 for two letters) I had a ton of green twine and began wrapping the letters. I used the glue gun for tricky parts of the letter or to start and end. Once complete I wrapped a board (also from Hobby Lobby for $3.99 with wall hooks) with burlap. Attached the letters and then made burlap roses. The roses are easy just cut a strip into about 12 inches by 3 inches. Grab one end and begin wrapping into a circle twisting the strip as you go. When you get to the end glue the bottom and attach the last few inches so the rose stays intact. Attach the roses to a few of the letters! Simple and cute!

Now I need to host a Pinterest Party...oh yeah...already in the works:)

Valentines Day craft night!

This has turned into quite the tradition now! Seasonal crafts and girls nights merging! This time one friend and I stayed up to 2am! So fun!

Our first craft was a felt heart. (good find Courtney!) You cut felt into 2-3 inch circles. Depending on how dense you want your petals will depend on how much felt you need. Then you fold the circle in half and then in half again. Pin the corner of the felt into a foam heart shape that you would by at hobby lobby. Repeat until you have the fullness you desire. Add a piece of ribbon or lace with hot glue or pins and hang!

Next is just simply framing doilies! For the first one I just laid burlap as a back ground and put a doily and a bow! The next one I used lace in my back ground with a doily and a bow made of burlap to tie it together!

Last was a lovely banner. Just cut burlap into squares. Cut whatever word or phrase out of lace and trim with lace or ribbon. Adhere the letters with a glue gun or you can see it if you get crazy! Same for the lace trim. Just make sure you leave enough on either end to hang it.

I don't think we will do a St. Patties Day craft night but for sure an Easter one!

Christmas craft night!

I know I'm behind but...I wanted get these on!

Chalk gift tags (also be used for name cards). Super cute and super easy gift tags that could easily be used for birthdays or other holidays.

Spray paint a cardboard box that you cut into flat pieces with chalk spray paint. After dry cut into squares and decorate as desired!

Burlap Banner
Just cut burlap into any size triangle. Using craft paint and stencils blot the paint over the stenciled of the letters you want. Adhere a ribbon by either sewing or using double stick tap. Tie loops at the end to be able to hang it!

Balloon Ornament
We got so many compliments on these sparkling things!

Blow up water balloons with air. Use modge podge and coat the balloon. Then using white twine or cotton ribbon begin wrapping it around the balloon in a random pattern. Start with a dot of glue and end it with a little extra to use to hang it. Roll the wet balloon in glitter and hang dry over night.

Christmas Carol Ornament

Purchase foam balls and light fabric. Cut the fabric into strips and with a sharpie write the lyrics to your favorite Christmas Carol. With hot glue wrap the strips around the foam ball. To hang hot glue twine or ribbon in a loop.

Our craft night was so fun we kept it going and met again later in the week to finish! These craft nights have now become seasonal so stay tuned for Valentines Day!
